What started as a way for Sydney Bollinger to chronicle training for the 2024 Every Woman’s Marathon in Savannah, GA, Running on Sentences is now a place for discussing the ends and outs of running, what it means to be moving, how we chase our goals, and what happens when we — sometimes — fail.

About Sydney


Sydney Bollinger (she/her) is a writer and runner with an MS in Environmental Studies with a focus on Environmental Writing from the University of Montana. She freelances for Charleston City Paper and is a founding editor of Surge: The Lowcountry Climate Magazine and The Changing Times.
Her work on Running on Sentences in 2024 detailed her experience training for the Every Woman’s Marathon in Savannah, GA. She focused not just on the mechanics and practice of running itself, but also how training impacted and influenced all facets of her life.
Sydney has authored several dark fiction and horror short stories. She is currently working on a novel and a short story collection.
She lives in sunny Charleston, SC with her partner Kimberly and their two cats.
